THE SPLINTERNET

Though the dream of the original internet pioneers was a completely open, non-hierarchical internet, over the years barriers have been springing up that restrict this freedom. Bit by bit, the internet is becoming more cordoned off. 2017 could see it break up altogether.

WILL APPLE BE THE MOST VALUABLE COMPANY IN THE WORLD AT YEAR END 2017?

Yes. The easiest way for Apple to lose its crown is a Saudi Aramco flotation. The oil company has an estimated value of more than $2tn; Apple’s market capitalisation is a bit over $600bn. Many analysts are gloomy about Apple’s prospects, but this is priced in already. There are no new gadgets expected in 2017, but a tax cut on repatriated cash could reinvigorate the stock. If Saudi Aramco stays out of it, Apple should remain number one. Tom Braithwaite FT https://www.ft.com/content/dc8bc230-c858-11e6-8f29-9445cac8966f

DRONE JACKING WILL REACH NEW HEIGHTS

Some of the most interesting expectations for attacks in ‘Internet of Everything’ (IoT) field will involve unmanned aerial vehicles. Namely, that as drones become more widely used by businesses for deliveries, filming, surveillance, and more, attackers are going to see them as a prime hijacking candidate.

"Drones have their own unique identity but they could be considered mobile as well as IoT devices as they start connecting with other devices," says Mandeep Khera, CMO of Arxan. "As drones start getting more used for deliveries of goods, expect dronejacking and other attacks. Hackers can also cause drones to malfunction with malware, resulting in injuries."

The Chinese year of the Rooster

Rooster (or Chicken) ranks the tenth among the Chinese zodiac animals. In Chinese culture, Rooster represents fidelity and punctuality, for it wakes people up on time. People born in the year of the Rooster are beautiful, kind-hearted, hard-working, courageous, independent, humorous and honest. They like to keep home neat and organized. On the other side, they might be arrogant, self-aggrandizing, persuasive to others and wild as well as admire things or persons blindly.
